We are very excited to announce a special guest at Tuesday’s FORUM ON NYC VETERANS POLICY:
John Oliver, Emmy-winning writer, renowned comedian, and host of the Peabody Award-winning HBO news-satire show, Last Week Tonight, will make a special appearance on Tuesday evening. A great supporter of veterans causes, John has volunteered his time to entertain troops and veterans, and to perform at charity fundraisers benefiting veterans and their families. John is the husband of an Army veteran who served in Iraq, and is a valued member of our NYC veterans community. We greatly appreciate his appearance at our event to highlight the importance of NYC veterans policy in the lives of our city’s veterans, service members, and their families.
Comedian John Oliver performs a USO show for troops stationed in the Middle East on August 19, 2013. Oliver was in the region for a week boosting troop morale alongside fellow "Daily Show" colleagues Rory Albanese, Elliott Kalan and Adam Lowitt. This was the group's first-ever USO tour. Tuesday’s event is free and open to the public, and currently the auditorium is reserved to its full seating capacity. We do expect cancellations, however, and encourage those who wish to reserve seats to register on the Wait List for first-come priority for a reserved ticket as they come available prior to the event.
We encourage everyone to arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and take their seats. We cannot hold reservations for anyone not seated prior to 6 PM. There will be standing room in the back and in the hallway, so we hope to have room for everyone who wishes to attend.
Please also be sure you’ve reserved your spot at the Galway Pub, where we’ll continue the conversation following the Forum. Your reservation helps us have a more accurate headcount so we can ensure enough room for everyone who wants to attend.
Special thanks to the New York Public Library, and to our generous sponsors:
