The NYC Veterans Alliance, in partnership with Pathfinder, is pleased to release an important set of surveys that will help to assess the needs of the NYC veterans community. If you’re a veteran or military member, student veteran, or spouse or domestic partner of a veteran or military member in NYC or the NY Metro area, we hope you'll provide critical input on specific issue areas.

All survey responses are completely anonymous.

Health & Wellness

For veterans and military members residing in the NYC and NY Metro area. We're asking for your input on how and whether you access medical, dental, and mental health care; your experience using VA healthcare; service animals; and other aspects of your personal health & wellness like nutrition, exercise, and service-oriented activities; your input on suicide prevention; and other important topics. Takes between five and ten minutes.

Affordable Housing & Homelessness Prevention

For veterans and military members residing in the NYC and NY Metro area. We're asking about your current living situation, no matter whether you are or have been homeless, rent an apartment, or own your own home; your input on any rental assistance programs you might have recently used; whether you've used a VA home loan; your financial security; and other housing-related input. But don't worry--you'll only be asked questions that apply to you based on your answers. Takes about five minutes.

Employment & Career Development

For veterans and military members residing in the NYC and NY Metro area. We're asking for your input on government employment and veteran hiring preferences; your experiences with career fairs, conferences, and resume workshops; your interactions with employers about your military experience; your experiences with job placement and referral resources; and other employment and career related input. Takes about five minutes.

Entrepreneurship, Small Business & Street Vending

For veterans and military members residing in the NYC and NY Metro area. We're asking about your experiences, preparation, and needs as a current or aspiring entrepreneur, small business owner, or street vendor. We want to hear your input on what would make your current business or street vending operation more successful, or what you're looking for to get started with a new business or street vending operation. But don't worry--you'll only be asked questions that apply to you based on your answers. Takes about five minutes.

Student Veterans

For veterans and military members residing in the NYC and NY Metro area who are attending or who have attended academic or vocational rehab programs within the last three years. We're asking for your input on what has helped or hindered the completion of your program, what resources you've taken advantage of, and other important student-related input. Takes about five minutes.

Spouses & Domestic Partners

For spouses and domestic partners of veterans and military members residing in the NYC and NY Metro area. We're asking for your input on your employment, income, and caretaking experience and needs. The voices and needs of our spouses and domestic partners are underrepresented, and we hope you'll help us to change that!

These surveys will provide our community with valuable information on what resources are working best for us and what needs still must be addressed. We also ask you for your direct input. Surveys will be open in early March, and a summary of survey responses will be made available to the public in early May.

Direct input from NYC Veterans Alliance meetings, members, and prior surveys has shaped and guided these surveys, and survey results will inform our developing member-driven policy agenda for 2016.
